The written application consists of open questions that help us get a sense of who you are, what your skills are, and why you’re passionate about entrepreneurship.
Our first face-to-face meeting! We’re excited and want to get to know you, better understand your motivation for entrepreneurship, and learn why you want to join our community.
Your first day as a STARTie! During this day, you will get an overview of what our community looks like from the inside and, most importantly, meet your fellow STARTies.
A hands-on deep dive into the process of building a startup. Accompanied by a series of workshops, you will build an MVP from scratch with a team of 3-4 STARTies.
This weekend getaway for the community is the perfect chance for you to meet STARTies from previous batches, and even some of our alumni.
If you're studying in Munich for at least two more semesters, you’re welcome to apply—no matter your university or study program. We’re looking for a diverse community of thinkers, innovators, and doers, who bring unique perspectives and skills. Some of the best ideas happen when different minds tackle the same problem, and that’s what START Munich is all about.
Not at all. We understand the challenges of finding the right idea you’re passionate about. You should have an entrepreneurial spirit and drive. With this mindset and surrounding yourself with people who share it, finding a startup idea will come naturally.
You should feel comfortable in speaking English, since it is our main language of communication.
We have a two step application process. The first step is your written application. The written application consists of open questions that help us get a sense of who you are, what your skills are, and why you’re passionate about entrepreneurship. After screening and evaluating all the applications, the selected applicants are invited to an interview in which we want to get to know you, better understand your motivation for entrepreneurship and why you want to join our community.
October 9 - 27: Written application period
November 4: Feedback & invitations to interviews will be send out
November 4 - 8: You will receive a challenge and have time to prepare for the interview.
‍November 8 - 10: Interviews on-site in the Munich Urban Colab
November 12: Final Feedback & invitations to join the community of START Munich will be send out
Some questions in the written application may require reflection, so we encourage you to pre-read them and take your time answering. We estimate that the application will take about one hour. Between the application and the interview, you will receive a small challenge to present during the interview, for which we recommend investing 2-3 hours.
To allow everyone to be integrated into the departments and the community, you need to be active during your first START semester until the new batch joins in May 2025. If you plan to go abroad earlier, we encourage you to apply next semester.
There’s no fixed hourly requirement for your investment. We emphasize an active and vibrant community, ensuring that the projects you undertake at START Munich help you gain valuable skills for your entrepreneurial journey. In essence, you get out of your time at START Munich what you put in. Most active members invest between 5 and 15 hours per week. You have to be active for the first full semester (till May 2025), and in the second or third semester (you can take a one-semester break, if your are abroad or do an internship).
We have five departments where you can undertake projects to practice and gain new skills. Some projects span multiple departments or organizations, allowing you to realize your ideas regardless of the department you join. Our departments are: People, Events, Marketing & Communication, Partnerships, and Finance & Operations. During onboarding, you will have time to get to know the departments and choose the right one for you.
Our membership fee is 20€ per semester. By paying this fee you get access to our events, community and network.
Our people department is happy to answer any questions you have!
